Championship Week Viewing Schedule: Tuesday

Championship week kicked off hard last night and there were some doozies. Furman, the 11-21 team from the Southern Conference, led late in the 2nd half against Woffered and had a 3 opportunity at the buzzer to tie but fell just short. Then, Manhattan and Iona went to battle for the 3rd year in a row for the MAAC championship and it was a great game once again. Manhattan pulled away late from Iona but it was still a thriller up in Albany. So how do you follow that up? Well how about a another slate of games Tuesday night?

Robert Morris vs. St. Francis- Northeast Conference Final- ESPN2

Ky Howard, Jalen Cannon

St. Francis is trying to be the 2nd NYC school to clinch a birth in the tourney tonight after Manhattan took down Iona on Monday. If St. Fransis (BRK) can win this one and St. Johns can make the tourney, New York City will be nice and repped in this years tournament for the first time in a while. Also to note, St. Francis has been playing basketball for 76 years and has never made the tourney. I’m becoming a bigger Terrier fan by the minute. Just look at what  St. Francis senior Jalen Cannon said

“It’s going to be crazier than a Duke-North Carolina game, It’s a small gym, so it gets really loud and the noise will bounce off the wall and come back to us. Sometimes you can feel the floor shaking.”

We’re all Terriers tonight

Green Bay vs Valparaiso – Horizon League Men’s Championship- ESPN

Powerhouse matchup in the Horizon league. Both of these teams could pull of an upset in a few weeks come tournament time so this is a big one. Green Bay is 24-7 and Valparaso is 27-4. This is my lock of the night to be a must watch game

#7 Gonzaga vs. BYU- WAC Championship- ESPN

The Zags make the conference championship for the 15th straight year and are looking to secure a 2 seed in the tournament. However, they were upset by BYU only 2 weeks ago. History does tend to repeat itself. If Gonzaga loses this game they could drop down to a 4 seed maybe at worst a 5. They have nothing to gain but everything to lose. BYU is playing with house money. This could be interesting.

North Dakota State vs. South Dakota St- Summit League Champonship- ESPN2

State is the defending champ and heavy favorite

I think I accidentally put this one in the category for Monday nights slate, but I promise, these two teams are playing tonight. If you’re a big fan of the Dakota’s this game is for you. I’m assuming this is a big rivalry. What else to people in North Dakota and South Dakota have to do?
