Groversteveland just informed me that today is that special day of year when we recognize the one true king. He’s not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need. HIs name is David Allen Wright, and today is his birthday.
He’s the face of the MLB and personally I live my life by one motto WWDD. What would David do. Every day I wake up and the first thing I see is the life-size fathead of David Wright in my bedroom. He’s stayed with us for his entire career even though we’ve given him no reason to. He could’ve left when he was one of the top third basemen in the MLB, but he stayed in Flushing. We finally recognized him last year by making him the fourth captain in Mets history, and even though he had his worst statistical season of his career, I know that he’ll be healthy by opening day and he’ll be back to his old self. If we’re going to contend next year it starts with our captain. I’ll tell you one thing, Mr. Wright is up to the challenge.
It’s absolutely crazy that David is 32 years old. 32!!!! It’s like watching your children grow up before your eyes. One day he’s a 22 year old stud and next thing you know he’s a wily vet. From the whole one minute team, we thank you for your service David.
