Yawn. This is getting boring. ANOTHER overtime win? This time against the defending Stanley Cup Champions? Boooooooooriiiiinnnnng.
The Isles were able to edge out the Kings 2-1 last night in a shootout victory. The Isles gave up an early goal to Dwight King four minutes into the game, but then the defense anchored down and were able to shut out the Kings for the remainder of the game. Chad Johnson made 28 saves on 29 shots (.966 save %). Oh, and he also absolutely stoned Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter in the shootout. The penalty kill showed up, shutting the Kings down on all four of their man advantages. Another great showing from a defense that has struggled as of late.
Somehow Brock Nelson was able to sneak the puck in from this angle:
past Quick for his 7th goal of the season (assisted by John Tavares and Ryan Strome).
Kyle Okposo was able to absolutely tie Jonny Quick into a pretzel during the shootout. Quick is still looking over his shoulder trying to find that puck.
Franz Nielsen cam up and just burned Quick. Nothing fancy. Just fired it right by Jon. Poor guy. Didn’t even know what hit him. Didn’t even get a chance to face a third shot. The refs called the fight after what Kyle and Franz did.
This was really cool. It’s one of those small things that shows that you’ve arrived in the League. When the best of the best make comments like this. It shows the Isles have the attention and the respect from the rest of the League
The Isles have tonight off, but head to Arizona tomorrow to take on the Coyotes in their third game in four days. Should be a fun one.
Watch out! Don’t fall on your face, bro!
