Oh who did the Knicks take last night with the 34th overall pick? Cleanthony Early? Wow, some genius blogger must have predicted that in his blog the previous day after the pick was received in a trade with the Mavericks. That’s not the story here though. The Knicks have a quality wing player with a great attitude coming out of Wichita St. He led the Shockers to a 1-seed and undefeated regular season and a Final 4 the year prior. He can shoot the three and rebound, always a nice combo. Early is also a somewhat hometown kid, a native of Middletown NY.
The Knicks used their 51st pick (also for the Mavericks) on Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Since I will never be able to pronounce that name I’ve decided his nickname is the Greek God. That’s the one. I don’t know much about him, but he has a tremendous wingspan of 7’0″ for a 6-6 small forward.
Good job by Phil and Co. to pick up some solid wings at a position that desperately needed youth and depth. It’d be great to see these two guys make the squad and produce for the team come Fall.
UPDATE: The Knicks received 6-10 Louis Labeyrie (57th overall pick) for cash considerations. He’s a center from France. A little too scrawny at 200 lbs., but his afro is sweet so yeah if you’re asking I like him.
